
Baked Crusted Apples

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups of flour

½ teaspoon of salt

½ cup of vegetable shortening

⅓ cup of ice water

3 medium granny smith apples

4 teaspoons of melted butter

3 ½ teaspoons of sugar

¾ teaspoon of ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons of caramel sauce
Utensils:

Large bowl

Small bowl

Spoon or whisk

Two knives

Plastic wrap

Medium-large saucepan

Peeler

9x13 inch baking dish

Directions
Dough:

Mix together flour and sugar in a large bowl

Mix in the shortening using knifes until crumbly

Combine gradually in a bowl with cold water until dough forms a mass

Divide into 4 equal portions and wrap with a plastic wrap

Refrigerate for 30 minutes or overnight
Apples:
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

Peel and core apple using the peeler and a butter knife

Mix together sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl

Roll refrigerated dough into roughly 7 inch squares

Place an apple into each square

Place 1 teaspoon of sugar mix and 1 teaspoon of butter into the center of each apple

Pull up the edges of the dough over the apple gently, pinch to seal

Place the dough covered apples in a baking dish, sprinkle with cinnamon

Heat caramel sauce in saucepan on medium heat until bubbling

Pour mixture evenly over apples

Bake for 50-55 minutes, basting occasionally

Add a scoop of ice cream over the top
